Lets talk about the money..
Why I charge what I do and why it matters.

My post content
I’ve been thinking a lot lately about pricing; not just the numbers, but the meaning behind them.
As someone who worked in the NHS for decades, I’m very familiar and comfortable with offering support because it’s the right thing to do, not because it’s profitable. At the sharp end of clinical activity, you don’t think about the cost of what you’re doing in terms of the help you’re providing. Supporting others doesn't feel like a business transaction.
So, when I set up my own Coaching and EFT practice… honestly…? Pricing has been one of the most challenging parts.
That, and marketing myself… also something that isn’t usually at the forefront of a busy clinician’s mind. But that’s a subject for another day.
Pricing my sessions has felt… well, complicated, to say the least.
I didn’t want to charge too much and make my work inaccessible.
I also didn’t want to undervalue the years of experience, study, and care I bring to every session.
And I didn’t want to set a tone of “cheap”, because people often associate that with something being substandard or low quality.
Also, I do still need to earn a living.
Like many coaches and therapists, I’ve sat with that uncomfortable tension between wanting to help everyone and needing a sustainable business.
I need to earn enough not just to cover my costs (Zoom, insurance, professional registration, and so on), but also to continue this work in a way that’s steady and supportive for me too.
As ever, I’ve done a bit of reading around the subject. And what I’ve come to believe is this:
What we charge matters; not just to us, but to the people we support.
💸 The Energy of Exchange
Something I’ve learned, both from being coached and now from coaching others, is that when we commit financially, we commit psychologically too.
When we invest in ourselves, it shifts something.
We show up differently. We make the time. Treat it as a priority… and perhaps as a result, we reflect more deeply, we’re braver and ready for change.
There’s something powerful about saying, “I’m worth this.”
🤍 My Intention With Pricing
Right now, my standard rate is £80 per session, which is average for EFT and on the lower end for coaching, especially given my background and experience. But I’m happy with this rate for now…
I also offer package deals because I know that real transformation often takes time.
And I’ve chosen this rate for a reason:
It’s accessible enough that I’m not excluding the people I most want to work with.
It’s high enough to reflect the depth of support, training, and life experience I bring.
It also gives me space to offer a 20% discount to Occupational Therapists and other healthcare workers, (my original tribe), because this is my way of continuing to support the amazing people working in health and social care.
If You’re Feeling the Pull (But Worry About the Cost)
I get it. I’ve been that person, knowing I wanted help, but feeling hesitant to spend money on myself. Especially if you’re someone who’s used to putting others first, investing in yourself can feel… strange. Even selfish.
But maybe coaching or EFT isn’t a luxury.
Maybe it’s support.
Maybe it’s a space to come home to yourself.
Yes, the financial commitment can feel scary. But again and again, I’ve seen how it can be the thing that helps people finally give themselves permission to really change.

🧭 Not Sure If It’s the Right Time? A Few Gentle Questions to Help You Decide:
If you’re on the fence, here are a few reflections that might help:
What’s not working right now?
Are you feeling stuck in a pattern of stress, self-doubt, or burnout? What would life look like if this part of you softened or changed?
Is there a version of your day-to-day that you quietly long for?Have you already tried to think your way out of it, but nothing’s shifting?
Sometimes we need more than willpower or advice. Sometimes we need a space where the deeper stuff gets met.Do you long for somewhere that’s just for you?
A place to slow down, be real, and feel supported?Does a part of you feel ready, even if you’re nervous?
That nervousness might be the beginning of something good.
If any of that resonates, it might be time to explore what support could look like.
💬 A Final Thought
Whatever decision you make, I hope it’s one that honours your needs.
Whether you choose to work with me, another therapist, coach or no one for now, know this: Your wellbeing matters. You matter.
And when you’re ready, I’m here.
